I decided to break down the conventional stigma that surrounds the Art world. I don’t claim to know what the perfect art is or even to consider calling myself an artist. I am not aloof in the Art world nor would I want to stand around in Art galleries believing that what I have made is the most impressive use yet of paint and canvas.
I am for all intense purposes an average person with an average background- and this does not include anything art related apart from secondary school. I wanted to create something fun and in an obvious ,way does not take itself seriously. Throughout YouTube there is a lot of “How to..” videos. I find a lot of them quite boring and long, however we all watch them because it contains the information we need. So I decided to create my own “How to..” videos in a field that I have little experience…drawing! I therefore produced a series of short videos showing people how to draw a multitude of different things. All the drawings were done on post-it notes and lasted no longer than 9.9seconds. With such limited time you can imagine the less than impressive array of drawings that were done. I then took this a step further and decided to try and paint a replica of my drawings. I think I did a pretty good job of this..in regards to replicating them.
So the worldwide social experiment is whether art can be made popular and sell, just from being popular- regardless of the ‘artist’ or artistic ability portrayed in them. As with all art, the more popular the art or ‘artist’ becomes the higher in value the art is perceived. Therefore, my first painting will sell for $10 and increase a couple of dollars each time a painting is sold.
In return, I will allow the buyer ad space. The sold painting will be listed as sold, along with a banner or link from the buyer (as long as the advertised site is appropriate).
